Greenshield Foundation for Ecosystem Restoration and Wildlife Conservation

Why We Exist

The Niger Delta is a land once known with rich wildlife, heard with echoes of mangroves, and constituted by flurishing communities and indigenes surviving with fishing and farming— silence has slowly replaced the songs of nature.

The rivers which once nourished generations now share the scars of oil spills. The forests that was home to our ancestors and sacredness for maintaining peace and order in communities have fallen to chainsaws, oil spills and flames. The farmlands that once blossomed with abundance, now lie lifeless under slick of crude. And the people, whose stories are deeply tied to this land, now struggle to breathe in an environment fighting to survive.

It is from this pain and hope that Greenshield Foundation for Ecosystem Restoration and Wildlife Conservation was born.

We are here because our planet can no longer speak for itself. Because our environment has been deeply degraded to the point that nature alone can no longer heal herself without conscious human intervention. Because future generation have the right to inherit not wastelands, but standing forests, living farmlands, clean water, and rich wildlife.

We have come to restore — not just forests, but hope.
To protect — not just animals, but the delicate balance that makes it possible to co-exist.
And to inspire — so that every young person in the Niger Delta understands that change begins with action.

Every mangrove we replaced, every hectare we restore, every life preseved, every child we educate, and every community we empower brings us closer to healing the wounds of the earth and rebuilding the bond between people and planet.

We are here to give nature a fighting chance again.
